Meeting in Beit Sahour discussing municipal projects By an invitation of Mr. Hani Al-Hayek mayor of Beit Sahour, held yesterday Tuesday 9/03/2007 a meeting at the Folklore Center’s Hall of the municipality “Dar Dakkarat” attended by number of businessmen, engineers and intellectuals. Mr. Al-Hayek reviewed the most important municipal projects and pointed out the importance of the contribution of citizens and the private sector in financing some of these projects. As a result of the debate that took place during the meeting about the possibility of achieving this contribution through the establishment of private or public investment companies in the city. The mayor also spoke about some of the projects that have been implemented by the donors in the city, including USAID UNRWA projects, which convert the water and sewer project in the city at 250.000 dollars, as well as the Italian Cooperation which support the Lightning project in the city for about 55.000 euros. In addition, he pointed out that the Pontifical Mission in Jerusalem contributed in supporting of some small projects that concern the municipality and some city institutions, as well as Caritas Jerusalem.
