A reception for the delegation of the Greek province Achias in Beit Sahour
Beit Sahour Municipality organized yesterday evening Wednesday 28/03/2007 in the Greek Orthodox Hall a reception in honor of the Greek province Achias headed by Mr. Kiriakopoulos Atanasious and Greek Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. Andreas Pope Stavropoulou, in the presence of a number of clerics and the deputy Fuad Kokaly, members and Mayor of the municipality of Beit Sahour and representatives of Orthodox institutions and the Palestinian Greek Friendship Societies and a large number of invitees.
Hani Al-Hayek the mayor, welcomed the guests and congratulate the government and the Greek people on behalf of the town of Beit Sahour on the occasion of the Greek National Day, and praised the good relations between the Palestinian and Greek, the government position and the popular Greek supporter of the Palestinian cause and thanked the delegation of the Greek province Achias for hosting 50 boys and girls in the country of Greece in summer camp and wished the delegation to spend a nice time in the country.

In his turn, Andreas Pope Stavropoulou Consul General of Greece expressed his delight from the warm reception, and said "We are always with you, not only on special occasions and holidays, but also in difficult times and confirmed that the consulate will always be at your side, praising the friendly relations between the two people”.
The Head of the Greek delegation Kiriakopoulos Atanasious extended the greetings and best wishes of the Greek province Achias and thanked the Palestinian people for participating in the Greek National Day and promised to support tourism to the area of Bethlehem and Palestine by promoting Greek citizens to visit the Holy Land and to encourage cooperation between the Greek and Palestinian institutions. In addition he promised to work on twinning agreement between the Shepherds Orthodox School and similar schools in Greece.
Engineer Nader Al-hathwa spoke on behalf of Palestinian Greek Friendship Society, and Alessabat Mstkelme spoke on behalf of Greek / Palestinian associations, which included a warm welcome of the Greek delegation, that express the Greek people's solidarity with the Palestinian people, especially in these times as Easter is near.
