A Delegation from the Italian city “Mira” visited Beit Sahour Municipality

A delegation from the Italian city Mira composed of Mr. Francesco Vendramin, Mayor of Mira’s counselor for solidarity with Nations and former mayor of the municipality, and Father Mario accompanied with Father Faisal Hejazen the patron of the Latin community in the city, have visited the municipality of Beit Sahour where Eng. Mazen Shomali, the acting mayor and members of the municipal council Eng. Hussam, Dr. Issa Abu Saada, Mr. Mohammad Al-Hourani, and Mr. Khalil Joubran received them.

Eng. Shomali welcomed the delegation and gave a brief about the situation in the city and on the latest developments on the Palestinian territories and the aspiration of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence and a just and comprehensive peace. Moreover, he highly praised the good relations and friendship ties, which unite the peoples of Palestine and the Italian people. Likewise, he mentioned that the municipality of Beit Sahour is twinned with many Italian municipalities and that the municipality’s ambition is to foster and develop partnerships that will make a difference in the quality of life of Beit Sahour citizens,

Then Eng. Hanan Manoli presented a power point presentation about the city of Beit Sahour, its history, organizations and the diverse activities and future projects.

Mr. Vendramin thanked the Municipal Council members for the great reception given to them and expressed his happiness to visit this historic city and the Palestinian territories, and confirmed their readiness to provide projects to support peace projects including youth projects. He also expressed the possibility of signing up a twinship agreement between the two municipalities. Finally, he hoped to continue cooperation for the benefit of the city, the citizens and the Palestinian people in general.

At the end of the visit, the two parties exchanged gifts.
