The Municipality of Beit Sahour signed a “Friendship and Cooperation” agreement with the Municipality of Vaulx- en- Velin The Municipality of Beit Sahour - Palestine and the Municipality of Vaulx-en-Velin - France signed a friendship and cooperation agreement between the two municipalities at the Osh Al-Gorab site, east of the city, following over three years of continuous relationship. The signing of this agreement aims to further develop the ties of friendship between the inhabitants of both cities. It will also help to nurture the growth of community institutions in the areas of education, culture and social development of the young people in order to achieve sustainable community development and to build good, cooperative relationships between the institutions of both cities through the implementation of joint projects and the exchange of knowledge and information on the population, living conditions and politics of the Palestinian people. According to the agreement, the municipality of Vaulx-en-Velin will help to implement specific projects in Beit Sahour this year including helping the municipality of Beit Sahour in the development of public facilities such as the Garden Project at the Osh Al-Gorab site including a children’s play area and other green spaces. The signing ceremony was attended by many official guests and citizens of Beit Sahour. The ceremony started with the Palestinian National Anthem following which, the mayor, Mr. Hani Al-Hayek welcomed the guests and praised the good relations that connect the Palestinians and the French. He also thanked the delegation for coming to the town of Beit Sahour and for their continued support for the Palestinian people and in response Mr. Morris Charier, Mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin, expressed his happiness at being in Palestine to support and assist the citizens and praised the hospitality extended to them and welcomed the signing of the Convention. At the end of the ceremony, the agreement between the two cities was signed and gifts were exchanged. |
