The Mayor of Beit Sahour visited the Municipality of Rimini and the Municipality of Mira in Italy

The Mayor of Beit Sahour visited the Municipality of Rimini and the Municipality of Mira to enhance the cooperation between Beit Sahour and the Italian Municipalities.

The city of Rimini has been twinned with Beit Sahour since 2003 and the focus of the meetings there revolved around the different ways for Rimini to continue to support the Palestinian people and ease their daily sufferings especially following the building of the apartheid wall and the on-going closure. The good relations that currently exist between the Italian and Palestinian peoples were highlighted and the Mayor, Mr. Hani Al- Hayek, stressed the need to continually keep the relationship alive and fresh. He then presented several projects to them with the main emphasis on Osh Grab. He also spoke about developing a youth cultural exchange programme, the aim of which would be to strengthen the ties between young people from Beit Sahour and its twin cities to increase awareness of the cultural and social situation here in Palestine.

In his meetings at the Municipality of Mira, the Mayor, Mr. Hani Al- Hayek, focused on the necessity of twinning with Mira to help strengthen relations between the two countries in social, political and economic terms. The Mayor of Mira, Mr. Michele Carpinetti, expressed his willingness to sign a twinning agreement and his interest in supporting the Municipality of Beit Sahour.
