Festival of Friends for Peace and Prosperity May 24, 2009 – Ush Ghurab

On May 24, 2009, Beit Sahour Municipality hosted a Festival of Friends for Peace and Prosperity in Ush Ghurab Municipal Peace Park. The festival was well attended by residents of Beit Sahour and the surrounding area as well as visitors from abroad. The guests were entertained by three separate dabka performances: two performances from the People's Cultural Heritage Enduring Troupe, one from each division; and one from Kazar Troupe. The evening was complimented by a thirty minute performance from singer/songwriter Garth Hewitt from the United Kingdom. These performances were held on Ush Ghurab newly completed Roman-design stage.

The Festival's international guests included: representatives from the municipalities of Givors, Grigny, Romans and Vaulx-en-Velin (France); forty English guests of Garth Hewitt; and Mr. Patrick Girard, Cultural Attaché of the French Consulate General-Jerusalem.

Other distinguished guests included: Mr. Salah Al Ta'mary, former Minister of Finance; Mr. Akram Bader and Eng. Raed Samar of the Joint Council for Services, Planning and Development (JCSD) Bethlehem B1; and Mr. Ghader Hamdan of the Joint Council for Services, Planning and Development (JCSPD) Eastern Rural.
