Contract Signing for the Renovation of the People's Market Square (Al Souk)
The project, locally know as "al mismaka" has been a dream of the municipality and the city for many decades. The implementation of the project was made possible by His Excellency, the Prime Minister, Dr. Salaam Fayyad, through a generous grant of 5,166,990 NIS ($1,396,000). This sum will allow for the construction of the underground parking garage and the first floor of the complex which will contain shops and offices for rent. As an income generating project, the Beit Sahour Municipal Complex will provide job security, timely salary payments and economic stability for municipality staff. This in turn will enable the municipality to more effectively provide services to the citizens of Beit Sahour. The tender was awarded to Mr. Mike Suliman, of Sun Rise Contracting Est., who pledged to implement the project quickly and with the highest level of quality and attention to detail. Construction will begin immediately and is expected to take one year.

On Thursday, March 18, 2010 Beit Sahour Municipality and Sun Rise Contracting Est. signed the contracts for the renovation of the People's Market Square in Ush Ghurab Peace Park.
