Arab Town Award/Al Jaiza: On Tuesday, May 11, 2010, Mayor Hani Al-Hayek-on behalf of Beit Sahour Municipality, and Mr. Issam Juha-on behalf of the Center for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP), accepted the First Place Award in Architectural Heritage from the Arab Towns Association of Qatar in a very prestigious and elegant ceremony that took place in Doha, Qatar. Mr. Al-Hayek and Mr. Juha were accompanied by Eng. Hanan Manoly, Project Development Manager of Beit Sahour Municipality and Eng. Nada Al-Atrash of the CCHP. The municipality and the CCHP collaborated on the nomination of the Emergency Plan for the Revitalization of the Historic City of Beit Sahour and the implemented and proposed projects in that plan. The Award, known as "Al Jaiza", is a prestigious and celebrated prize. This year the competition included 115 nominations from organizations, universities, cities and religious institutions from all over the Middle East. In the Architecture category there were 29 nominations in all, 9 in the division for Architectural Heritage. |
